Sheriff Kuntz Swears in his Fifth newest Deputy

Sheriff Gary Kuntz swore in his office’s fifth newest sheriff’s deputy on July 2, 2013.
Deputy Caleb Scroggins, originally from Sutherlin, Oregon, attended California State University Chico where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology. In addition, he has his Associate of Science degrees in Administration of Justice and Law Enforcement.
He graduated from the Butte College Police Academy in June, 2013.
Deputy Scroggins is also currently in the Army National Guard as an artilleryman. Prior to
joining the National Guard he was employed as a Cultural Language Ambassador where he taught English in South Korea.
Deputy Scroggins, after completing a 2 week orientation period,will begin a 16 week
field training program. The training program is an extension of his law enforcement
academy training, and concentrates on officer safety, sheriff’s office policies and procedures, firearms, self defense, criminal investigation procedures, and numerous other
aspects that he will encounter on a day to day basis.
Upon successful completion of the field training program he will be qualified as a “solo” patrol deputy.
