Following this morning’s press release regarding a
credit card skimmer installed inside a local Chevron gas pump, the
Angels Camp Police Department has received a number of comments
expressing concern that the release reflected poorly on the business
involved. Nothing could be further from the truth.
Because
of the vigilance of Nash Chevron and its employees, the skimmer was
detected and reported to Angels Camp Police Department. The Angels
Camp Police Department applauds Nash Chevron for proactively preventing
additional incidents of credit card theft.
We at the Police Department are entrusted with protecting our local community members and those that visit our community. Part of that job includes keeping the public informed as to events that occur within our community. The intent of this morning’s press release was merely to inform community members and instruct them to closely monitor their bank accounts and credit reports for any fraudulent activity.
We
apologize for any inconvenience or misunderstanding our earlier release
may have caused to the owners of Nash Chevron, or its employees. Angels
Camp Police Department strives to support and protect all of our local
businesses. Working as partners with the business to community, we aim
to prevent crimes that victimize all members and visitors in our
community.
