Local Lions giving the gift of better sight

In 1925 Helen Keller attended the Lions Clubs International Convention and challenged Lions to become "knights of the blind in the crusade against darkness."

Lions Club International has taken that challenge and now reaches millions of people in need yearly with eye care.

The Lake Tulloch Lions has for years collected eyeglasses which are then 'refurbished' and given to someone in need. Though no local collection spot is located in Copperopolis any Lake Tulloch Lion will take your glasses donation. There also are two drop off points in Tuolumne County - Walmart and the Tuolumne Library.

If an eye exam is not in your budget, nor are glasses, the Lake Tulloch Lions can help with complete or partial assistance.

Funding for this program comes from charitable fund raising such as the Crab Feed and the Car Show.

The Lions also belong to the Lions Eye Foundation:  lionseyeca-nv.org..  If someone requires major eye surgery, we can refer them to this group to see if they can get help.
