Recently a viewer of the Copper Gazette posed this question: "If Spellman is putting his time and energy into campaigning for Congress, how can he effectively represent the interests of Copperopolis?"
This question was put forth to District 5 Supervisor Darren Spellman at the May 19, 2011 weekly forum held at Snaps in Copperopolis Town Square.
Spellman replied "to my knowledge every one of the people on the board (of supervisors) has another business that generates income other than Supervisor. I do not." He further stated that he felt he could campaign without drawing away from being a Supervisor "how ever busy I may be." Continuing on that line he further stated that he would not be "pulled away from my duties more than any other Supervisor."
