District 5 Supervisor Spellman takes Center Stage at Frog Jump

Having never 'jumped' a frog before, Spellman used youtube for instruction and guidance. It seemed to help, as he won the Government Center Frog Jump with an 9' 2" qualifying jump. This win automatically entered him into the World Championship Frog Jump Competition on Sunday at the Calaveras County Fair and Frog Jumping Jubilee, where teams from as far away as Oregon came to compete in this highly competitive sport. Icon Lee Giudici, the record holder since 1986 with a jump of 21' 5 3/4 " from frog Rosie the Ribiter, was on hand to watch the event.
Though Spellman thought he could come armed with a tree frog he had painstakingly caught at his home, he was told his frog needed to be at least 4" in length.
Enjoying the sun and the fun at the fair, Spellman was a good sport and threw his all into 'jumping' his loaner frog.
