According to Captain / Acting Chief Keith Cantrell, there exists a "current draft policy section for the Intern Program within the Policy Manual which will be considered for adoption in whole (complete policy manual) at Thursdays meeting." (5-12-11)
Currently there are two volunteer Firefighters that are following some of the program requirements as guidelines but not receiving a stipend yet. They are on shifts when they have the time and are "receiving training and experience in return." Keith states that what the District gains by utilizing an intern program "is very affordable help. I budgeted a daily stipend of $65 for one Intern every day for next fiscal year & was asked to budget for two per day for next fiscal year at the last Board meeting."
