Ramsey Fire 95% contained

Fire fighters have been battling the Ramsey Fire blaze since August 11, 2012 when after an escaped campfire ignited surrounding timber in an incredibly inaccessible area fraught with rough terrain and dense fire fuels. The fire is located on Hwy 4 just 8 miles east of Dorrington. At one point personnel on the scene exceeded 520. The blaze was battled from the air and on the ground. Mid week all CalFire personnel had received notices that days off had been canceled and all man power was needed. The notice has since been lifted.

Throughout the day chipping of materials along HWY 4 will continue as will demobilization of excess crews and equipment. Assigned mop up crews will work deeper into the fires perimeter with mop-up operations. Fire suppression repair will continue.
