Dear Copper Gazette Editor,
I
want to personally thank you for your continued commitment to local
news in Copperopolis, the greater Calaveras County area and most
importantly the catalyst for this letter, your ongoing commitment to
honoring our "Fallen Soldiers" that continue to sacrifice their lives
for our freedom from foreign enemies that would most certainly not
hesitate to take our freedoms and our lives if given half a chance.
Every
time I view your "Honor the Fallen" column, first a lump swells in my
throat followed by a pain in my glands and tear ducts. I don't say this
to dissuade you from running the column, but rather to validate what I
imagine many more people than myself feel when they read it. In a world
so obsessed with entertainment based media and sanitized commentary in
regard to truly weighty matters I feel proud that (you) a local
journalist in my county cares enough to make sure we as the general
public never forget that every day there are real life altering and
sometimes life ending casualties in the cause of protecting freedom and
justice in the world.
