Sheriff Dept Press release re: Two Arrested in Valley Springs




Deputies contacted a female subject on the 7600 block of Baldwin Street, in Valley Springs. The
Female subject was seen walking in a residential area on private property. The deputies recognized the female subject as Susan Marie Stratton (31 years old), who was placed under arrest for misdemeanor warrants. The deputies conducted a security check of the residence that was located on the property. 
As deputies were knocking on the door, a white male subject exited out the back and began to run, jumping over fences. Deputies gave chase when they heard a female subject yelling. Deputies contacted the female subject and she stated the white male subject had forced his way into her home and prevented her from leaving. The subject had told her that he was running from the Sheriff's Department and needed a place to hide. 


 
As the male subject began to close blinds, the home owner exited the residence and contacted the Sheriff's Department. Deputies conducted a search of the home owner's residence but did not locate the male subject. Deputies were alerted to an area located on the 7500 block of West Hill, where they contacted Anthony Paul Coffaney (33 years old), who matched the description, and placed him under arrest. The Calaveras County Detective unit later secured a search warrant for the Baldwin Street address. Detectives located a prop 215 marijuana grow, drug paraphernalia, and indicia belonging to Susan Stratton. Susan Marie Stratton was booked into the Calaveras County Jail for possession of stolen property, warrants, and drug paraphernalia. Bail totaled $5000 and the case is still under investigation. Anthony Paul Coffaney was booked into the Calaveras County Jail for possession of stolen  property, resisting and obstructing a peace officer, burglary, kidnapping, false imprisonment, drug paraphernalia, and violation of Parole.  Bail totaled $115,000 and the case is still under investigation
