Purple Heart Anglers - touching veterans hearts one fishing trip at a time

Saturday October 4 was more than just a beautiful Saturday for those who support veterans. It was a day of food, fun and fund raising for the Purple Heart Anglers at their yearly BBQ held in San Andreas.

Over 230 people joined together to raise much needed funds for the program which takes disabled veterans fishing, hunting, camping, whale watching, and so much more.

What began as a glimmer of an idea to honor his brother who had served in Vietnam became a full-time passion and commitment to all those who have served for founder Randy Houston.

With the organizational prowess of Chris Masselas and Cayla Pebley and the help of Fishing Guide and veteran advocate Doug McArthur the 2nd annual BBQ for the Purple Heart Anglers in San Andreas was an incredible event.

In the motherlode the Purple Heart Anglers hold events for disabled veterans in Ione, Angels Camp, Comanche, and more. If you know a disabled veteran who might enjoy a day out on the lake, ocean or river, contact the Purple Heart Anglers through their website.
