Dog Day Afternoon - a ggggrrrrreat event!

Thanks to the generosity of Chloe and Zoeys pet boutique in Town Square most every dog/owner came home a winner from the much awaited twice yearly event - Dog Day Afternoon - held October 13, 2012 in Copperopolis Town Square.

According to journalist Mary Krammer for about.com pet news, approximately $370 million will be spent in 2012 on costumes for pets. Its no wonder the turn out for Dog Days brought in pets and owners from Modesto, Valley Springs, Hayward and farther to enjoy a dog day filled with fun and frivolity for dogs and owners alike.

While the day was beautiful the heat was unexpected, so many a dog shed their costumes until it was time for the big parade. At 1 pm the parade commenced. Judges were pulled from the crowd to offer a variety of opinions. An unsuspecting Supervisor Tryon was wrangled in to being the judge of the large dog contest. Taking the job to heart he purveyed the vast array of quadrapeds outfitted in their halloween finery and chose Nyala, a husky mix from Valley Springs dressed as a Stegosaurus.

The winning continued at too fast a rate for this reporter to keep up...so suffice it to say, the pictures will have to tell the story. Don't forget to click on 'more pictures' link following the last photo on this page to see over 80 + photos of this event.
