SUMMARY
On 10/12/12 at around 1130 a.m. Dep. Rod Hobbs was patrolling
the Crystal falls area and noticed a vehicle stopped at Crystal Lake Drive and
Wasatch Drive, idling in the roadway. Due to a rash of burglaries in the area
Dep. Hobbs became suspicious and ran the license plate.
While waiting for a
return the vehicle began to move down Crystal
Lake Drive. Dispatch advised Dep. Hobbs the
vehicle was reported stolen. He followed the car for a short distance before
the driver abruptly pulled into a driveway and stopped. The passenger
immediately tried to get out of the car. Dep. Hobbs ordered both occupants at
gunpoint, to stay in the car. When back up arrived, the suspects were removed
from the car and the driver was identified as 23 year old Ryan Wardwell of
Twain Harte. The passenger was 23 year old Edward Cooper of Mi Wuk Village.
A
search of the car revealed what appeared to be lock picks and other Burglary
tools, as well as possible stolen jewelry. Wardwell and Cooper were booked at County Jail
for possession of the stolen car and burglary tools.
