24 October 2012, at approx. 9:18 pm, Officers responded to the
intersection of Mono Way and Greenley Road for a reported hit and run
accident. When Officers arrived, they contacted the driver of the victim
vehicle, Fazlollah Salari, 51 of Jamestown, who was operating a 2000
Honda Accord. Salari related that one of her two passengers was injured
as a result of the accident and medics were requested. The injured 73
year old passenger refused to be transported to the hospital for
treatment of their injuries.
Salari related she was stopped at the traffic light at the
intersection of Mono Way and Greenley Road, when she was struck from
behind by a 1997 Chevy P/U. The driver of the P/U then attempted to pay
her, if she didn’t report the incident to the police. When she refused,
the driver got back into his vehicle and drove off.
A witness followed the P/U from the scene of the accident to
Black Oak Casino, where Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Deputies contacted the
driver. The driver was identified as Robert Morris, 44 of Arnold.
Morris refused to submit to any field sobriety tests. A preliminary
alcohol screening test showed Morris’ blood alcohol (BA) level to be
more than three times the legal limit (.27).
Morris was taken into custody without incident and transported
to the Tuolumne County Jail where he was booked for felony driving under
the influence and felony hit and run.
