Share the Road...with snakes

During these summer months those of you that enjoy the scenic walk along the bike trail on the Little John Road extension need to keep an eye out for local wildlife as you stroll.

This 3 foot + garden snake was warming itself in the morning sun at approximately 9:30 am 6-12-12. Snakes are cold blooded and rely on external sources of heat to regulate their body temperature, as in this photo, the snake was utilizing the heat from the asphalt to warm itself.
