5 vegetation fires scorching over 100 acres have occurred along the Hwy 4 corridor from Angels Camp to Copperopolis in the last 10 days; all but one remain under investigation.
According to Lisa Williams, resource secretary for CalFire , the fires within the Highway 4 corridor during the week of June 11th were reported as suspicious, and remain under investigation.The additional fires within the last week, the Riata Fire and Horseshoe fires, are newer fires and investigations are ongoing as to their causes.
