Gavin Brummund Memorial Golf Tournament

It could not have been a more perfect day to hold the Gavin Brummund Memorial Golf Tournament at Greenhorn Creek Golf Course. The golfers were in great form and high spirits looking forward to a brilliant game that not only raised funds for the formation of a VFW post in Copperopolis, but honored the memory of fallen Marine Gavin Brummund.

Gavin's mother Debbie was at the event to thank and to meet the people that came out to honor her son. Carson Ellington a senior at Bret Harte High school and organizer of the event welcomed the crowd with a heartfelt speech about his friend and psuedo big brother Gavin. He introduced Charity Maness, the organizer for the formation of a Copperopolis VFW who thanked the crowd and gave a brief explaination of the VFW as a place for those who have served overseas to feel a sense of comaraderie, fellowship and support. Vietnam Veteran Ralph Murphy, a formation VFW representative, was then introduced and took the opportunity to thank the event participants for their support.

The following pictures are of the event as it began.
