Church of the Ascension Announces Holy Week Schedule

April 17^th        Palm Sunday at 10 AM, This is the day that Jesus entered Jerusalem in triumph and the people spread their garments and branches of palm along His way.

April 20th       Service of Tenebrae at 7 PM, Tenebrae is an ancient monastic service, which provides an extended meditation upon, and a prelude to the events in our Lord’s life between the Last Supper and the Resurrection. This service will be held at Fr. Jim & Pam Stout’s home, 785.7099.

April 21^st        Maundy Thursday service at 7 PM, This is a service of Holy Communion, the Reserving of the Sacrament to be used on Good Friday and the Stripping of the Altar.

April 21^st        Vigil at the Altar of Repose Following the Maundy Thursday Service. Jesus said “Could you not watch with me but for one hour? Matthew 28:40

April 22^nd       Good Friday service at 12 noon, This service is the Passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ.

April 22^nd       Stations of the Cross at 7 PM, Is a devotion known as the Way of the Cross-with prayer at a series of places traditionally associated with Our Lord’s passion and death.

April 23^rd        Holy Saturday, Great Easter Vigil at 8 PM, The Great Vigil, is the first service of Easter Day, which is celebrated between sunset on Holy Saturday and sunrise on Easter Morning. The service consists of four parts:

1.      The Service of Light

2.      The Service of Lessons.

3.      Christian Initiation, which is Baptism or Renewal of Baptismal Vows.

4.      The Holy Eucharist the first Communion of Easter.

                                               

April 24^th          Easter Day, Service at 10 AM
