Flags at half-staff for fallen CalFire pilot

 Governor Brown Issues Statement on Fatal CAL FIRE Airtanker Crash

SACRAMENTO – Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today issued the following statement regarding the death of pilot Geoffrey “Craig” Hunt in yesterday’s crash of a California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) airtanker assigned to the Dog Rock Fire in Yosemite National Park:

“Anne and I were deeply saddened to learn of the death of Craig Hunt, who bravely fought wildfires throughout the state. Our deepest condolences go to his family, friends and colleagues.”

Hunt, 62, of San Jose, was a veteran pilot with DynCorp International under contract with CAL FIRE. He is survived by his wife and two daughters.

In honor of Craig Hunt, Capitol flags will be flown at half-staff.
