SACRAMENTO – Today, Assemblymember Kristin Olsen, R-Modesto, issued the following statement in response to the Assembly passing Senate Bill 81, which protects budget funding for school transportation: “The school transportation cuts that went into effect last month are nothing short of devastating to students in rural and low income districts. Education should be one of our top priorities in California, and the only way many of our children are getting educated is if we provide a way for them to get to school. “I am really pleased that SB 81 passed the Assembly today. This measure will keep the buses rolling and ensure that our kids will be treated fairly across the state regardless of where they live or where they go to school.” This measure now goes to the Senate where it is expected to be voted on later today.
