SUBJECT: Arrests in Burglary Investigations

On 02-04-12, at approximately 2:46 AM, an officer from the Angels Camp Police Department was dispatched to a report of an intruder inside a residence on Blair Mine Road. The reporting party advised that they were awakened by noise and saw someone holding a flashlight inside the residence. The officer responded and checked the area and did not locate any suspect(s) at the time of the call. It was discovered that the intruder removed a money clip and cash from inside the residence and that the intruder had tampered with a lap top computer.
Later in the morning, at approximately 7:14 AM, the Angels Camp Police Department responded to another residential burglary on Blair Mine Road. The reporting party in this case advised that an unknown subject had entered their residence and removed an iPhone, cash, a spotting scope and two air rifles. A vehicle inside the garage had also been tampered with, and headphones for the iPhone were taken.
At approximately 4:00 PM an officer received a tip from a resident in the Angel Oaks subdivision that they had observed a subject wearing a back pack climb over a fence that borders the back yard of a neighboring residence in that subdivision. Additional investigative leads combined with the tip from the Angel Oaks resident, led officers to a residence in the Angel Oaks subdivision. Two juveniles were contacted there, and further investigation led to the recovery of property taken in both of the Blair Mine Road residential burglaries, as well as property from additional residential and vehicle burglaries reported in the Angel Oaks and Greenhorn Creek subdivisions. Both juveniles, a 17 year-old Angels Camp resident and a 17 year-old Murphys resident, were arrested and booked into juvenile hall on numerous felony counts related to burglary and the possession of stolen property. Additional charges are pending as the investigation continues.
The Angels Camp Police Department has recovered two additional cameras, some jewelry, two GPS devices and some knives that are believed to be stolen property, but there are no crime reports to match to this property. Anyone that is missing this type of property that has not reported it to police is encouraged to contact the Angels Camp Police Department. If the property can be sufficiently described in detail, the police department would like to return it to its rightful owner.
The Angels Camp Police Department would like to take this opportunity thank the anonymous party that reported seeing the subject climbing over the fence. Without the tip from the resident in Angel Oaks the police department would not have been able to close out these cases. So far, four (4) residential burglaries and three (3) vehicle burglaries have been solved as a result of the tip provided by the resident. This serves as a reminder that the police and our residents work hand in hand to protect our community and keep it a safe place.
The Angels Camp Police Department would also like to once again remind property owners to secure their homes and vehicles. Lock your doors, on your homes and vehicles, and secure your valuables in a safe place. Do not leave expensive items visible in your vehicles.
