Subject: Merchant Committed Program
________________________________________________________________________
The Sonora Police Department is pleased to announce that it’s joining forces with Friday Night Live and the YES Partnership to help support their Merchant Committed program.
The Merchant Committed program is designed to help reduce the sale and access of alcohol to minors via retail merchants. The program seeks the cooperation of merchants who sale alcohol; to help eliminate the access of alcohol by minors through their businesses. This is accomplished through a cooperative working relationship between the merchants and Friday Night Live. Just a few of the items that are focused on are; following Alcohol Beverage Control (ABC) rules of identifying purchasers, the location of displays of alcohol, monitoring, signage, employee’s attending the merchant education program and law enforcement inspections.

Merchant Committed is designed to help support merchants, while preventing the sale and access of alcohol to minors. Currently, there are five (5) businesses that have partnered with Friday Night Live and the YES Partnership for this valuable program. They are; Reich’s Outpost, Gold Country Gas, Corner Gas, 7-11 in Twain Harte and Twain Harte Market.
The Sonora Police Department is looking forward to working with the merchants who join the program, along with Friday Night Live and the YES Partnership. If you are interested in joining this rewarding program, the Sonora Police Department encourages you to contact Emily Turner or any Friday Night Live Staff member at 533-1397, extension 297.
