Copper FIre Volunteers raise funds for the Food Pantry

On Saturday September 3, 2011, Copperopolis Fire Protection DIstrict volunteers gathered together at the IGA and held their semi-annual fill-the-boot event.

Their efforts and the generosity of the residents of, and visitors to, Copperopolis raised $1,850.oo and one bag of food for the Copperopolis Food Pantry.

President of the volunteer association, Don Rollings, said, "People did what they could" saying that many donated $1.00 or $5.00, some gave the change they had on hand. In this tough economy Don felt the people were really very generous.

One gentleman, wishing to remian anonymous, said, "I used to be one of those that donated, regularly, now I am a recipient." Times have changed and the people of Copperopolis have come together once again to support those in need in their community.

The Copperopolis Food Pantry is open to the residents of Copperopolis the third Thursday of each month from 2-4.
