While traditionally the Calaveras County Fair kicks off on the third Thursday in the month of May, there are some competitions that take place prior to the fair weekend.
Both Dog and Alapaca/Llama competitions will be held on May 14, 2011 at the fairgrounds.
The dog competition will begin at 8:00 am and run the dogs through their paces, obedience and skill.
The Alpaca/Llama competition will begin at 9:00 am and will consist of packing, obstacle, obedience and more.
