Sheriff Dept press release re:West Point Robbery Investigation



On 09/02/14 at 0835 hours, Deputies were dispatched to 22000 block of Hwy 26, in West Point, to investigate an Armed Robbery. The suspect contacted a female victim at gun point while she was opening a business. The suspect asked the victim to empty her pockets and place all of her personal items into a black duffle bag. The suspect proceeded to ransack the business and took an undisclosed amount of money. The suspect exited the business and ran through an empty field towards Main Street. West Point Elementary School was temporarily locked down, while the Sheriff’s Department checked the area.

The suspect was described as being in his early 20's, approx. 5'6" - 5'8" with blue eyes, last seen wearing a black ski mask with a black skeleton bandana worn around his jaw line, a long sleeved black shirt with grey sides (possibly Under Armor brand), black sweatpants and black shoes. The firearm used was an unknown black semi-automatic handgun. The subject left on foot at approx. 8:40 am. The Sheriff’s Department is investigating this matter and conducting follow-up.
