Sheriff Dep press release re: Gun found at Calaveras High School - Two Students arrested

On 9-05-2014 at 0810 hours, The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to Calaveras High School to investigate a report of a gun on a school bus. The bus driver was notified and held the students on the bus until the sheriff deputies arrived about three minutes later. Deputies made contact with a 17 year old male student. The deputies searched the student’s bus seat and belongings and found a loaded gun. The gun was immediately confiscated and the 17 year old placed under arrest. Deputies learned that a second male subject had originally brought the gun on the school bus. Deputies identified him as a 15 year old student and subsequently arrested him for his involvement. At this time, it is unknown what the intentions of the students were. At the time of this press release it is not believed that the students had a conceived plan to hurt any students or school staff. This case is still active and further investigation is being conducted. No additional information is available at this time.
