Calaveras Artists Open their Studios for the 9th year in a row on Saturday and Sunday, September 27 & 28, 2014

Calaveras artists are excited to welcome you into their homes and studios from which you can see and purchase their creations.  Visit historic locations like Stephen’s Cash Store (aka: Chevron Station) in Sheep Ranch where several artists are gathering to showcase their work.  Tour Calaveras towns and back roads and greet and talk with the artists during the Calaveras Artists Studio Tour, Saturday and Sunday, September 27-28.  Artists from past years tours return and new artists to the tour join in.  The Artists Studio Tour brings artists and art lovers together in relaxed and friendly environments where the various elements of art are shared and enjoyed.   Artists will be on hand from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm on both days for questions and discussion as they “show their process” and reveal how, why and where they create their artwork.  Purchase original art, prints or unique gift items directly from the artist.

Free maps with a color photograph of the artist’s work are available on-line for you to down load.  You can also pick one up at the Arts Council in San Andreas, Victoria’s Frame Shop in Angels Camp, Calaveras Visitors Bureau in Angels Camp, and many other locations in the county and surrounding foothills.  The map guides you to 9 different sites where artist work or display their art. You will travel through Calaveras County towns, back roads and country neighborhoods in Arnold, Murphys, Sheep Ranch, Angels Camp, San Andreas, Mokelumne Hill, and Mountain Ranch. Spread your trip over both Saturday and Sunday for a leisurely journey through the dramatic fall landscape. Simply pack up family and friends and discover that Calaveras art is as enjoyable as its wine and gold rush towns.  Each unique location will bring a satisfying experience that deepens your understanding of the importance of art in our culture.
