Captivating Chinese Dance comes to Angels Camp for Ovations Performing Arts Series

Daylight Saving Time begins on Sunday, March 9, 2014, but don’t let the time change make you late for an exotic and enchanting dance performance by San Francisco based Lily Cai Chinese Dance Company.  The dance performance is on Sunday, March 9 beginning at 3:00p.  The dancers will be uninterrupted by an intermission so that you can experience a full length venture into an art form depicting history adorned with colorful traditional costumes, swirls of ribbon and light.  This Ovations performance is at the Dr. Elliott Smart Performing Arts Center located at Bret Harte High School, 323 Highway 49, in Angels Camp.  Adult tickets are $25 and Youth 18 years and younger at $10.00.  Go on-line to www.calaverasarts.org (home page), scroll down to order tickets on line or call 754-1774.

Elegant, sensual, and captivating, the Lily Cai Chinese Dance Company melds ancient Chinese forms with modern dance in an artistic and inventive marriage of styles. The Company bridges the continuum from past to contemporary - from spectacular court dances of Chinese dynasties to contemporary works fusing classical Chinese movement, modern dance, and ballet, complemented by dazzling costumes, original music, and innovative staging.  Cai says that when dancers are on stage, they want the audience to feel the performance.  “I want people to see the beauty, feel the beauty, and see that it’s unique.”

The next performance is Sunday, March 30 with cowboy entertainer, Dave Stamey.  Dave is a real cowboy, he leads Sierra Nevada trail rides from Mono Lake to Bodie and as a troubadour, sings his way all over the west. Tickets are on sale now by going on line to www.calaverasarts.org or by calling (209) 754-1774.
