Sierra
Repertory Theatre continues to celebrate the start of its 35th
Anniversary season with its first-ever Directors Brunch.
The
brunch, set for April 6 at the Black Oak Casino Resort Hotel banquet room, is
designed to give audience members an idea of how SRT went about staging Les Miz, one of the biggest productions
the theatre has undertaken so far. The theme will center around all things
French, in honor of the setting of Les
Miz. There will be champagne and other cuisine
de France, including pastries and cheeses. After the meal, there will be a
question and answer session with SRT’s Producing Director Dennis Jones and
guest artists before guests make their way to the East Sonora Theatre for the 2
p.m. show. Brunch-only tickets are available for those who wish to attend a
different performance.
SRT Special
Events Coordinator Judy Stoltenberg got the idea for the brunch when she
noticed tickets for this year’s opening night gala, always a popular event,
going quickly. She figured it was a combination of two extraordinary things: Les Miserables coming to a local stage
and the opening night of SRT’s 35th Anniversary season.
“It’s
an exciting experience,” she said of Les
Miz, the world’s longest-running musical. “Plus, it’s exciting to celebrate
a milestone anniversary.”
The
opening-night gala, which occurred Saturday, March 1, sold out, but tickets for
the brunch are still available. Cost is $80 per person, $50 for season ticket
holders, or $50 for brunch only. A VIP table for eight is available for $900.
