Senoir Project raising funds for Humane Society through some 'dog gone fun'

17 year old Copperopolis Senior Hayden Smith has developed 'A dog agility fun day' for his senior project. Smith says he has always loved animals and has two dogs himself - Kit and Mona- a Queensland heeler and a McNabb/Walker Hound. "Kit and Mona are not trained in agility. I don't know how they will do on the course. It will be interesting to see."

Having never completed nor been to an agility event before this arena was all new for Smith. His mentor Karen Kaua, owner of Aloha Boarding, has given him the much needed information to run an agility event. She has also graciously allowed the use of her facility for the event. As part of the preparation Smith has helped to fix and re-paint obstacles.

The event is set for March 30, 2013 at Aloha Boarding and Training on French Gulch Rd.

"Have you ever wanted to see if your dog could complete a dog agility course? Now is your chance to try, and you can benefit our local Humane Society at the same time. All dog breeds and types are welcome, but absolutely NO aggressive dogs.

This event is a student Senior Project and all proceeds will benefit the Calaveras County Humane Society. It is intended for amateur dogs and strictly for fun."

Cost: $5 preregistered or $7 on the day of the event.

Smith has a Facebook page set up for more information. Pre-registration should begin the first week of March.
