Linda Kemper's artists rendition of the old Telephone Building adorned each complimentary wine glass held by wine tasters who attended the 27th annual Copperopolis Community Center Wine Tasting event held January 12, 2013 at the Copperopolis Armory.
Linda has been interested in most all forms of art since childhood, dabbling in sketching, watercolor, oils, stained glass, woodworking and acrylics, finally finding her true love of all things textile. Linda first picked up sewing at the young age of nine and has been sewing and quilting since while keeping her other art avenues open for new experiences and dabbling "anything to keep me out of housework." In fact, as a member of the Lake Tulloch Quilters Guild, she helped create the quilt depicting the history of Copperopolis that adorns a wall in the historic Armory.
The design idea was hatched by Sandy Rollings when she brought a picture to Linda of what she hoped could somehow be turned into a sketch for the 2013 wine glasses. Linda asked if she might give it a go. Soon thereafter Linda showed Sandy what she had created and apparently Sandy loved it. "I was very honored that she thought my
sketch was good enough for the glasses."
For the 140+ people that attended the annual wine tasting and went home with their complimentary wine glass they now hold a small piece of Linda's creativity in their wine glass cabinet.
