The Sonora Police Department saw some surprising increases in some areas during 2012. One of the largest was in the number of arrests for driving under the influence (DUI). Another alarming rise was in the number of drug arrests made for the year. There was also a jump in the number of DUI accidents. Other areas that saw increases in were in the number of misdemeanor arrests, number of calls for service, number of calls for animal services and number of arrests for public intoxication.
On a brighter note, the Department did observe some decreases in some areas in 2012. General thefts dropped and the number of burglaries decreased as well.
