STAND DOWN 09/23 – 09/24, 0800 to 1700 (8:00am to 5:00pm). The attendees will not be required to stay the night.
Target population is Military Veterans who are homeless or at risk of being homeless. We are being kind of loose on our definition of homeless. We want to encourage those at risk Veterans to attend.
We will be providing free medical and dental checkups. The dental services will include extractions, cleaning, and fillings. Medical checks will be for vitals screenings and referrals to higher level of medical care if needed. We are working on getting a Vision Van there too.
We will provide Veteran attendees free meals, clothing, haircuts, hygiene kits, sleeping bags, track phones & minutes for track phone (for the first 20 Veterans who arrive), gas cards (for the first 20 Veterans), & transportation to the event for the Veteran participants.
What we would greatly appreciate from our community partners is:
Assistance with identifying those Veterans who are homeless or at risk of being homeless.
Inform those Veterans of this event.
Instruct the identified Veterans to bring their DD 214 papers (discharge papers). If necessary we can assist them with acquiring copies of their DD-214 papers prior to the Stand Down. The more advance notice we have for this the better chances we have of getting the papers back in time.
Identify which Veterans are in need of transportation and provide the Outreach team with this information as far in advance as possible so we can make arrangements.
Thanks so much for your willingness to support our Veterans. If you have any questions please contact me at 209-588-2604.
