Bret Harte Seniors raising funds for grad night fireworks

At many local events you may see Bret Harte students carrying about coffee cans decorated creatively with miles of duct tape and sharpie pen art asking for donations to raise funds for fireworks at the 2013 graduation.

According to Chris Perez - pictured below - at one time Bret Harte had fireworks at their graduations yet due to the high cost they were discontinued.

Well, the class of 2013 wants to go out with a bang and has taken it upon themselves to raise the funds for a sparkling grad night.

If you would like to help with donations for this you may send your donation to Bret Harte High School, attn: Courtney Brooksher (fireworks in memo line) POB 208, Altaville, CA  95221

CalFire 4th of July Fire Safety memo

CAL FIRE is warning the public of the state's zero tolerance regarding the use or sale of illegal fireworks. CAL FIRE is working closely with local law enforcement and firefighting agencies to seize illegal fireworks and prosecute those found in possession of them.
Under California law, illegal fireworks include sky rockets, bottle rockets, roman candles, aerial shells, firecrackers and other miscellaneous types that explode, go up in the air, or move about the ground in an uncontrollable fashion. Those convicted could be fined up to $50,000 and sent to prison or jail for up to one year.

CalFire press releases re:fireworks interdiction

On July 2,2012 CAL FIRE concluded a multi-agency operation designed to prevent illegal fireworks from entering California. The two part operation resulted in the confiscation of over thirteen thousand pounds of illegal fireworks. “There is no excuse for breaking the law when it comes to fireworks. Illegal fireworks and pyrotechnics can cause devastating injuries and damage to property,” said Tonya Hoover, California State Fire Marshal. Two families in San Bernardino found that out early Sunday morning, July 01-2012 when their duplex was destroyed by a fire reportedly caused by illegal fireworks..
