Sonora PD press release re: Major injury accident

1 November 2014, at approx. 5:30 pm, emergency personnel responded to the area of the 400 block of S. Washington Street regarding a reported vehicle vs. pedestrian accident.
When emergency personnel arrived on scene, they located 46 year old Sean Boles of Sonora, lying in the roadway. Boles was unconscious and was bleeding from his head. He was transported to Sonora Regional Medical Center by ambulance; then was later flown to Modesto Memorial Hospital for treatment. Boles suffered major head trauma as a result of the accident.

During the investigation into this matter, it was determined that Boles, who had been drinking, was riding a bicycle on the raised sidewalk, located on the west side of the 400 block of S. Washington Street. Then for some unknown reason, Boles rode the bicycle off the raised sidewalk, causing him to land on his head in the traffic lane. Boles was not wearing a bicycle helmet at the time of the accident.
