Copperopolis, CA....Tyler Paul “Taffy” Tafjen, 16, passed away in his
home on July 8, 2014. He was born October 7, 1997 in Berkeley
California, the son of Donald and Karen Tafjen. He was entering his
Senior year at Bret Harte High School where he was a 3 year member of
the baseball team and FFA. Tyler was a boy who loved his life in
Copperopolis. Baseball has been his life since the age of 4 ½ from
Little League to high school and proudly making the Varsity team his
Sophomore year. His passions were baseball, fishing, dirt bike riding,
mountain and BMX biking, Country music, his '86 Jeep Comanche and his
friends.
Tyler is survived by his parents Donald and Karen Tafjen, and his little
sister Ellie Tafjen of Copperopolis. He also leaves behind his
grandparents Donald and Virginia Tafjen of Orinda; his grandmother
Shou-Ting Wilson of West Sacramento; his Aunts Marcie Wilson and Betsy
Bushnell of Davis; his Aunt Stephanie and Uncle Christopher and cousins
Hannah and Madison Rawson of Omaha, Nebraska; along with many other
extended family.
A Celebration of Life will be held in his honor at the Angel's Camp Gun
Club at 5 PM on Wednesday, July 16, with a reception following at 6pm.
In Tyler's honor, this will be a casual event; He would want us all to
come comfortably, such as Western wear, baseball clothes or fishing
attire. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Tyler Tafjen
Trust at Umpqua Bank.

While never knowing the family, we are neighbors living a few blocks away. My husband and I were so sadden to read about Tyler's passing. Our deepest sympathy to Tyler's family and friends.

ReplyDeleteThis brings sadness yet pride to have had crossed paths with this young man. How proud he was of his little sister Ellie while competing in a singing contest a few years ago. I was always impressed that a newly turned teenaged boy would want to come and sit for (what must have seemed like) hours for her practices. Yet he came to support her and it showed in his mannerisms his pride of his little sister. He certainly was headed for greatness, as it already shows in his accomplishments, through strong and responsible guidance from both parents. What a great loss for this family, our community and the future great leaders.
