(Sonora, CA) – Sonora Regional Medical Center’s 18th Annual Golf
Classic will be held on Wednesday, June 11 at Saddle Creek Resort in
Copperopolis. All proceeds from the
tournament go toward funding Sonora
Regional Medical
Center’s Project HOPE, a
free mobile health clinic serving people in the community who typically do not
have health insurance. The clinic is
available twice a week at the Crossroads Shopping Center in Sonora and once a
month at Interfaith.
“The player registration list is filling up fast, so we are
encouraging interested golfers to contact us now,” says Gail Witzlsteiner,
Sonora Regional Medical Center Foundation executive director. “This has been an increasingly popular event,
and this year, Saddle Creek has asked us to cap the total number of golfers.”
Witzlsteiner adds that it’s still not too late to become a
sponsor of the event as well. “Some of
our early major sponsors include Black Oak Casino, Blue Mountain Minerals,
Elekta, Golden State Cellular, Grant Mercantile, M.A.C.T. Health Board and Oak
Valley Community Bank. Our sponsors are
given high visibility at and player registrations for the tournament. It’s a great opportunity that benefits a
great cause.”
The Golf Classic isn’t just for golfers, though. Anyone who is interested can participate in
the Helicopter Ball Drop contest by purchasing numbered balls that will be
dropped over a cup from a helicopter.
The owner of the ball closest to or in the cup will win $1,000. The winner does not have to be present to win
the contest.
The 2013 Golf Classic raised more than $63,500 for Project
HOPE and included more than 156 golfers and 75 sponsors.
Businesses and individuals who would like to sponsor, play, purchase
balls for the Helicopter Ball Drop contest, donate and/or volunteer to work at
the event should call Gail at Sonora Regional Medical Center’s Foundation
Office at 536-5029.
