Sonora, CA — You can pitch in by pulling weeds in the burned out areas of the Rim Fire.
It is an all-day event on May 24 in the Mi-Wok Ranger District of
Stanislaus National Forest. District Botanist Margaret Willits will be
leading the eradication project starting at 8:30 am and ending at 3:30
pm.
The goal is to remove tumble mustard from around the Jaw Bone Lava
Flat area. Forest Officials say this invasive plant has the potential to
impact the food supply for deer and other plant life so removing the
mustard will benefit wildlife as well as native plant species.
You will be provided with garbage bags and some gloves. You must be 18-years-old or older to volunteer.
