Staci Criswell, 47 of Sonora, was operating a 2004 Hyundai eastbound on Church Street between 20-25 miles per hour, when she failed to see Thomas Belcher, 51 of Sonora, who was crossing the roadway in front of her.
Belcher uses a cane to assist him in walking and had crossed three quarters of the roadway before being struck by Criswell’s vehicle. Criswell stated she didn’t observed Belcher in the roadway until the last second because he sun was in her eyes.
Belcher sustained moderate injuries and was transported to Sonora Regional Medical Center for treatment.
