Juvenile Arrested for Valley Springs Arsons
On 5-28-14 at 1900 hours, Deputies were patrolling the Valley
Springs area when they noticed smoke coming from Valley Springs
Elementary School area. They located a grass fire in a planter box near
the Historic Burson School House. The deputies noticed that one
juvenile was actively trying to extinguish the fire by throwing dirt on
top of it, while another juvenile was trying to leave the immediate
area. The Deputies detained both juveniles and Cal-Fire was dispatched
to fully extinguish the fire. The male juvenile caught trying to leave
admitted to setting the fire and was placed under arrest for the act of
Arson. He also admitted to starting an earlier fire the same day in the
woodchips on the school playground. The juvenile was transported to
Juvenile Probation and later placed in a Juvenile Hall out of the
county.
