Sonora PD press release re:heroin sales arrest

6 Nov. 2012, at approx. 10:59 am, Officers were dispatched to the 200 block of Stockton Rd. regarding a reported reckless driver. The reporting party provided a license plate number of the responsible vehicle, which came back registered to a person who lives on the 500 block of Dragoon Circle, inside the City limits.
Officers responded to the residence and made contact with the registered owner, Matthew Wechsler, 44 of Sonora. While officers were speaking with Wechsler, they noticed a fresh injection mark on his arm, which was still bleeding. He also had a fresh ligature mark just above his elbow.


Officers entered the residence and contacted Keith St. Lawrence, 55 of Sonora, who Wechsler claimed was the only person inside the residence. Also located inside the residence were; Michael George, 22 of Jamestown; James Hanson, 21 of Sonora; and Deanna Webb, 25 of Sonora.
During the Officers investigation they located a large amount of heroin; several hypodermic needles loaded with heroin; several used hypodermic needles; spoons used for heating heroin; a pipe with methamphetamine residue, a detailed record book showing sales of heroin that included dates, amounts of heroin sold and what the heroin was sold or traded for; there was also a large amount of other drug paraphernalia located inside the residence.
All five people were taken into custody without incident and transported to the Tuolumne County Jail. George, Hanson and St. Lawrence were booked for; felony possession of heroin; and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
Wechsler was booked for; felony possession of heroin, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia; and misdemeanor being under the influence of a controlled substance.
Webb was booked for; felony possession of heroin, felony possession of heroin for sale; and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
