Community Fireworks show at CFPD

On 7-4-12 Copperopolis Fire Protection District held their annual community fireworks show for a crowd of approximately 200+ people. The event is a collaborative effort between the volunteer fire association and the community as they pool their fireworks together for all to enjoy.

The evening began with kids enjoying popsicles handed out by Ellie Tafjen - daughter of a volunteer and sister of a cadet assisted by Volunteer association Vice President Don Rollings. As soon as dusk arrived sparklers were distributed to the many children for some fun before the big show. At 9:05 pm, Chief Kovacs welcomed the crowd and invited all to stand to National Anthem. With the words "Let the show begin" the crowd hushed in anticipation.

This years event was made more beautiful by not only the perfect evening - full moon included- but also by the moving and inspiring patriotic music provided by local resident and music aficionado Jimmy Valencia. More often than not the music seemed as if it was choreographed to the explosive fireworks.

Copper Fire Cadets Levi Rollings and Marshall Maness were entrusted with the job of lighting each of the fireworks. Their efficient and well timed efforts allowed for what many have said was the longest fireworks show ever at Copper Fire, approximately 45 minutes.
