Injured Firefighter Listed in Stable Condition
Firefighter Nathan Fyock,
who was struck by a civilian motorist last night while engaged in
firefighting operations, underwent surgery overnight after he suffered
major injuries from the accident. Fyock continues
to receive treatment at Memorial Medical Center in Modesto and this
morning is in good spirits.
Fyock, 39, has been a seasonal firefighter with CAL FIRE for five years assigned to CAL FIRE’s Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit.
An investigation into the accident and subsequent injury is being conducted by the California Highway Patrol. CAL FIRE has also activated a Serious Accident Review Team (SART) as part of standard departmental procedures for injuries and vehicle damage of this nature.
