The Calaveras American Little League Tigers top the Red Sox in back-and-forth affair, 8-7

The Tigers top the Red Sox in back-and-forth affair, 8-7 cinching TOC bid.

The Tigers outlasted the Red Sox on Saturday after four lead changes, squeaking out a 8-7 win at FT one.
The Tigers< pulled out the win thanks to a strong sixth inning. The Tigers scored on a two-run double by Duncan Welch off Luke Bakke, bringing home Connor Barajas and Joseph Borello.


Borello racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Tigers. He singled in the first inning and doubled in the sixth inning.
Cody Roessle got the win for the Tigers. He allowed three runs over five innings. He struck out 11, walked two and surrendered four hits.
Tigers closer Ryan Mercado put away the final three outs to record the save.
The bottom of the first saw the Tigers take an early lead, 4-0. The Tigers' threat began with a single by Roessler. Barajas singled, bringing home Kevin Lowry. The Tigers added more runs when Roessler scored on an RBI single by Borello, Barajas scored on an error, and Borello scored on a sacrifice hit by Hayden Lee.
The Tigers have guaranteed a place in the District 15 Tournament of Champions, which will be held at Frogtown the week of June 9th.
