Assemblymember Kristin Olsen, R-Modesto, was selected as an “Emerging
Leader” by the State Legislative Leaders Foundation (SLLF). Each year,
the non-profit and non-partisan SLLF selects 50 legislators nationwide
as Emerging Leaders and invites them to attend a three-day program
designed to enhance the leadership potential and vision of policymakers
who have been identified by their peers as likely to be at the helm of
tomorrow’s legislatures.
“I’m
so honored to be chosen as an Emerging Leader,” said Olsen. “I look
forward to participating in this unique program and having the
opportunity to learn from some of the most successful political and
business leaders in the nation.”
The
select program, held this July at the University of Virginia, consists
of a variety of interactive discussions and presentations from top
political leaders combined with cutting-edge leadership concepts from
world-renowned faculty. Topics of study and discussion for the 2012
program include:
• A Current Perspective on Political Leadership
• Issues in State Legislative Leadership
• The Global Perspective
• Action Steps to Make a Difference
“It
is important that we, as legislators, recognize our role as consensus
builders and solution-oriented problem solvers,” said Olsen. “We should
take the time to broaden our perspectives and develop the leadership
skills we need to tackle the challenging and critical issues of our
day.”
The
SLLF is an independent national organization committed to providing
specialized educational and enrichment programs for the leaders of our
nation’s state legislatures. Their mission is to educate and inspire our
nation’s current and future legislative leaders to excellence, without
regard for party, politics, or ideology. For more information on SLLF or
