SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY, Calif. -- New Melones Reservoir in Tuolumne County stands at just over 2 million acre feet of water.
Full capacity is at 2.4 million acre feet, and the Bureau of Reclamation is attempting to lower the level to 1.9 million acre feet.
The water will be diverted from going down the Stanislaus River and instead go to irrigation canals of the South San Joaquin Irrigation District through the end of October.
