On October 1, 2011, California Firefighter Memorial Day, 30 names were added to the firefighter memorial.. added to a list of approximately 1200 since the walls creation 10 years ago.
Governor Brown was present at the merorial service and reportedly stated that those who had fallen represent the best of California.
A friend of a fallen Vallejo firefighter spoke eloquently when he said, those who have fallen have "traded every tomorrow that they will never have to do a job that most people are too mentally or physically unable to do...it is dedication, honor" courage and sacrafice.
"California will not forget."
