Jordan Strauch, an eighth grader at Mark Twain, was 12 years old when he made his musical debut in front of an audience at the Copper Kids Idol contest. Though acting for many years, performing with his acoustic guitar was a different experience altogether. “My favorite part of performing is the rush of performing before a live audience.” Yet, as with acting, “The worst part is right before you go on (stage).”
Placing in the top five at the Copper Kids idol competition with his performance of ‘Wonderwall’ by Oasis, had Jordan hooked on performing and created a desire to generate a larger repertoire of music to perform. While Jordan plans on playing songs and music from other bands, he also hopes to supply soft acoustic background music without vocals.
His friend, and fellow performer, Michael Impink is responsible for getting Jordan interested in learning to play the guitar, but Jordan credits the two band members of ‘America’ Dewey Bunell and Gary Beckley for “getting him into music.”
Jordan is hoping to become a high school music teacher because “I love music and I want to teach others about it.”
The Town Square Scarecrow Auction and Library Spaghetti feed will be held from 5-8 pm on October 15, 2011 in Copperopolis Town Square.
