This is a great event for the family, with crafts, entertainment, and formal high tea. For all those who have attended in the past, continue the tradition; or for those who have never attended, what a great new tradition to enjoy with your children and/or grandchildren.Reservations are required. Soroptimist Offers Cash Grant to Women for Education or Training
Women
who are the primary wage earners for their families and need financial
assistance to
continue their education or receive training can now apply for the Soroptimist Live Your Dream: Education and
Training Awards for Women (formerly the Soroptimist Women’s Opportunity
Awards).
Soroptimist
International of Calaveras County Applications is hosting an information night
on Monday, October 20, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Round Table Pizza in Angles
Camps.
The
Live Your Dreams award provides up to $1,000 in a cash grant. The winner of the Calaveras County award will
advance to the Sierra Pacific Region competition where they can receive an
additional $5,000. The program
culminates with three finalists receiving a Soroptimist International of the
Americas grant of $10,000 each.

Soroptimists to Fund Cholesterol Testing
Soroptimist International of Calaveras County (SICC) will
again offer free Take Women to Heart lipid panel screenings to Calaveras County
women during the months of April and May 2013.
Heart attack and stroke are the No. 1 killers of women in
the United States. For women, the odds
of dying due to heart disease, heart attack, or stroke are significantly higher
than dying of cancer. SICC has enjoyed
an on-going partnership on this project with Mark Twain Medical Center since
2006.

Community Groups Gear Up For 'Chairs for Charity' Fund-Raiser On Jan. 26, 2013. - press release
Entries have been pouring in from community groups,
professional artists and individuals for the Chairs for Charity 2013 event on
Jan. 26. Only 30 entries are being
allowed this year, and those are already on hand. It will be a fun-filled
evening from 5 to 8 p.m. at the San Andreas Town Hall. Admission price is $25 – and tickets must
be purchased in advance. A full night of fun will begin with Pickle
Patch, San Andreas, catering a delicious buffet dinner. A no-host bar,
featuring a specialty drink, will be available. Llive and silent auction
opportunities will be offered. Fabulous
raffle prizes will be offered and everyone will have a chance to participate in
rounds of Xtreme musical chairs, just like when you were a kid. Mindy Bach will serve as Auctioneer and emcee
for the evening.

Soroptimist International of Calaveras County (SICC) is
seeking applications for its Women’s Opportunity Awards. The Women’s Opportunity Awards program was
established in 1972 to assist women with the primary financial responsibility
for their families to obtain the skills-training and education necessary to
improve their employment status and standard of living for themselves and their
family. Each year, $1.5 million in club,
region and international funds are awarded to more than 1,500 women in
Soroptimist’s 19 member countries and territories. The women receiving these financial awards
may use them for any costs associated with their educational efforts, including
tuition, books, child care, and transportation.
The chosen recipient of SI of Calaveras County will also be considered
for additional awards at the regional and international levels. The application deadline is December 15,
2012.
