On Thursday January 30 the Copperopolis Elementary boys basketball team went up against Avery losing 22 to 33, but giving it their best shot.

Copper Cougar Coaches Receive Honorable Mention for Sportsperson of the Year

Recently the Calaveras Enterprise announced their Honorable Mention nominations for Sportsperson of the Year and our own two Copper Cougar Basketball coaches - Troy Welch & Ray Belluomini - were on the list.

Congratulations Troy and Ray...well done!

The Copper Cougars girls basketball team played against the Mark Twain Badgers on Thursday September 27, 2012 in a home game losing by a mere two points 16 to 18.

Copper Cougars boys basketball take 2nd at CAZ tournament

The Copper Cougar boys basketball team took 2nd place at the CAZ tournament this past weekend in Jenny Lind/Valley Springs.  The team will be bringing home a large trophy for the school.

Chase Collins~also received a plaque for All Tournament. This award is given based on votes from coaches of all the other teams.

Copper Cougar Boys Basketball brings home big win!

Copper Cougars win against Michaelson

The Copperopolis Elementary School's boys basketball team hosted a game on Tuesday night 1-17-12 against Michaelson Elementary.  The Cougars managed to pull out a win with a final score of 28-18.  Top scorers for Copper were Chase Collins with 12 points and Johnny Miramontes with 6 points!  Next game is Thursday, January 19th at 3:30pm against CFLC.

Copper Cougars Boys Basketball - win 2 out of 3

Last week in Copper Basketball the boys had quite a week playing 3 games!  On Monday they played the Stockton Wildcats.  It was a very tough game and although the boys played hard until the end, it was not enough.  The Wildcats beat our Cougars 8-34.  Top scorer of the game was Joseph Miramontes with 4 points.  On Tuesday the boys hosted Sutter Creek.  This time they were ready!  The Copper Cougars beat Sutter Creek 33-15.  Top scorers for Copper were Chase Collins with 10 points and Bryson Kelly with 6 points. All boys on the team scored during the Sutter Creek game which, according to Coach Troy Welch, is very exciting and promising.  Finally, the boys finished the week strong.  They traveled to Arnold to play Hazel Fisher and won the game with a final score of 34-20.  Top Scorers were Chase Collins with 14 points and Joseph Miramontes with 7 points. 

 

 

This week the boys will host two home games.  On Tuesday, January 17th, they will play Michealson at 3:30pm and on Thursday, January 19th they will play CFLC at 3:30pm.  Come cheer on our boys!

Copper Cougars Boys Basketball re-cap

This week Copperopolis Elementary School's boys basketball played two games.  On Tuesday the Cougars faced off at home against Linden.  Our boys battled hard but it wasn't enough to stop Linden from pulling ahead in the last two minutes.  Final score was Copper 16-Linden 21.  Top scorers for Copper were Joseph Miramontes scoring 7, followed by Chase Collins with 4. 

On Thursday the boys traveled to Pioneer.  The boys played a very good game and beat Pioneer with a final score of 30-16.  Top scorers for Copper were Duncan Welch with 10 points and Johnny Miramontes & Max Meyer, both with 6 points.  Great job boys! 

Copper Cougars Basketball Cougars win 16-15

Copper Cougars Boys Basketball began this week!  Their first game of the season was against Mark Twain Badgers.  The boys played at the Mark Twain Elementary school.  The Cougars managed to pull out a win in the final minutes with a shot by Chase Collins.  Copper won the game 16-15. 

 

Thursdays game was at the Copperopolis Elementary School against Jenny Lind Elementary.  Although Copper lead the way through most of the game, it was tied up with less then 2 minutes in the fourth quarter.  A great 2 point shot by Johnny Miramontes in the final minute of the game pushed Copper back into the lead.  Johnny also scored a free point shot with less the 30 seconds left to help push Copper in a 22-19 win!  Scoring in the game was Chase Collins 6 pts, Johnny Miramontes 5 pts, Bryson Kelly 4 pts, and Joseph Miramontes, Max Meyer, & Duncan Welch all with 2 pts each!  Terrific games boys! 

 

Upcoming games are Tuesday, January 3rd, at Copperpolis Elementart at 3:30 against Linden.  And Thursday, January 5th at Pioneer Elementary school at 3:30pm.
