Habitat for Humanity 10th Annual Hoedown

Round up your family and friends and head to the 10th annual Hoedown for Habitat, Saturday, September 13.  The venue is Murphys Park where cowgirls, cowboys and all will find fine food, music for dancing, and a live and silent auction.  The event will take place from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM.

Served from 6:00 to 7:00 PM, enjoy a barbeque dinner of beef and chicken with delicious side dishes.  During dinner guests will be entertained by the stompin’ music of the Fiddle Gang, a group of six to 14 years olds led by their instructor, Carolyn Sylva of Jamestown.  To top off dinner, guests can help themselves to an array of scrumptious desserts made by Habitat Board members and volunteers.

The no host bar featuring local wines and beer will be open throughout the evening.  While sipping a beverage guests can check out the many auction items that have been donated by local businesses and individuals.  Auctioneer Mark Fischer is scheduled to start the live auction at 6:30.  The silent auction will close at 8:00.

Starting at 7:00, dance the night away as Crystal Image plays your favorite songs.  The group, led by John Covert, is an area favorite dance band, able to play a variety of styles from an enormous list of tunes.  For the Hoedown they’ll focus on rock and country standards.

Adult tickets are: $25 in advance or $35 at the park; tickets for children ages 6 to 12 are: $7 in advance or $15 at the park; children five and under are free.  Tickets can be obtained from Habitat Board members or by calling the Habitat office at 754-5331.

Hoedown for Habitat is a fundraiser to build and repair homes in partnership with Calaveras County families that are in need of affordable housing.  To date Habitat for Calaveras has built 12 homes in San Andreas, Valley Springs and West Point and repaired numerous others throughout the county.  This year’s proceeds will be directed to completing two new homes in Copperopolis.

About Habitat for Humanity Calaveras
Habitat for Humanity Calaveras is an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International and shares the organization’s mission of building/rehabilitating/repairing affordable homes in partnership with local families in need of decent housing.  Families are selected without favoritism or discrimination.  They must be County residents, contribute time in building the homes, and be able to qualify for the no-interest mortgage that provides low monthly payments.  Habitat provides a hand up not a hand out.  To finance its mission, Habitat seeks local support and sponsorships.  Since 1994 Habitat has built 10 new homes, extensively rehabilitated 2 others, and repaired numerous homes throughout Calaveras County.  This year, two more new homes will be constructed in Copperopolis.  For more information about Habitat for Humanity Calaveras, visit www.habitatcalaveras.org or call the Habitat office Mondays though Thursdays, 9:00 AM to noon at 754-5331.  To learn more, donate, or volunteer, visit www.habitatcalaveras.org
